As one of the UK’s top sporting institutions, Brunel University is proud to support and partner Brunel Hurricanes.  Netball is one of the University’s key elite sports and we have recently invested £1m in a new Netball Hall.

Brunel University Netball has one of the most advanced performance programmes in the UK

The Brunel University Netball Club has 6 teams in inter-university and local competition. The Club is currently the University Club of the Year and has a thriving social scene as well as great performances on the court.

In 2007-2008 Brunel University’s first team squad made the BUSA semi finals. Many Brunel players have also been selected as Brunel Hurricanes and Brunel London Talent Squad athletes within the Co-operative Netball Superleague and England Talent League. The University’s second team also made the BUSA finals this season and three University athletes were selected as part of the 2007-2008 British Universities squad.

Brunel University has recently revamped its Sports Scholarship programme to support athletes studying in higher education. For more information please check out the Sports Scholarships homepage to see what’s on offer and how our current group of Sports Scholars are performing.

Sam Newton – Brunel University 1st Team

“The training facilities are amazing. We have two Sports Halls so we have the facility for six teams which has really upped our training. I changed positions this year and have also trained with the Hurricanes squad who always give you great pointers and help out with your development”.

“My netball has improved leaps and bounds since coming to Brunel and we also have great fun and it’s a great social scene to be part of”.

“The standard of netball here at Brunel has improved so much. The intensity of our sessions with the 2nd team has really pushed us this season which has been great and the facilities are superb at Brunel. It has also opened up new opportunities for me, which has helped me become selected as a Superleague player for the Hurricanes”.
