Brunel Hurricanes Strengthen Coaching Team.

Sonia Taylor who has coached Academy Netball Club for 20 years has decided to move to Superleague and join Head Coach Natalie Swift as Assistant Coach for Brunel Hurricanes.

Natalie said “We are recruiting the best people in London and the South East. Sonia is an exceptional person and her results speak for themselves.”

Sonia led Academy in winning back to back Challenge Cups in 2007 and 2008 and to win the Premier League last season.    

Sonia is delighted with her new role and said, “This is an exciting time to be part of the new coaching team at Brunel Hurricanes. I am looking forward to the challenge and working with some of the best players in the country. I hope that I can make a difference at Co-operative Netball Superleague level the way I have done for my club and county.  Natalie has some great ideas for the development of the squad and I am honoured to be a part of it. “

Sonia has an eye for developing young talent and has identified and coached many international players at Middlesex County. Some of the players that have come through from Academy are Hellen Manufor, Sonia Mkoloma, Naida Hutchinson, and Michaella McFarlane. 

Neil Young, Franchise Manager for Brunel Hurricanes, is also very happy with Natalie’s new appointment and went on to say, “Sonia will be a great asset to the coaching team and we are looking forward to working with her next season.”
