Brunel's Holland wins coaching award

Hurricanes head coach Denise Holland may have been disappointed not to take Brunel to the Co-operative Superleague playoffs but was recently rewarded for her hard work off the court this season at the Pro-Active London “Celebrating Sport and Physical Activity Awards” which were held at Chelsea Football club.

Holland won Coach of the year and was thrilled to receive such recognition after a difficult season stating; “I am very proud to receive this award and thank Pro-active London.  My enthusiasm for helping young people develop through sport, especially in netball is as keen now as it was 20 years ago. There are opportunities to be involved in netball at all levels of the game and that is what is so incredible about this sport, netball can be enjoyed by just about anyone”.

Meanwhile the Co-operative Netball Superleague reached it’s climax last weekend with Mavericks taking on Loughborough Lightning in the Co-operative Netball Superleague grand final.  It was a case of third time lucky for Mavericks who had finished runners up on the two previous occasions. Mavericks and England captain Amanda Newton inspired her side to a 43-39 win over Lightning at the K2 Arena in Crawley.
